Dr. James Boutette
Dr. James Boutette, originally from Ontario, Canada, moved to the United States in 1993 to start an undergraduate program at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He graduated in 2002 from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, and went on to pursue both an internship at the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph Ontario Canada, and residency program at the University of Pennsylvania, both concentrating on avian and exotic species. His interest in wildlife medicine developed during veterinary school, and he worked during the summers for the American Eagle Foundation, caring for and training many raptor species as well as participating in their educational programs. An internship at the University of Guelph/Ontario Veterinary College included direct supervision of the hospital’s wild bird clinic. He was also very active in both national and international organized student medicine associations under the Student American Veterinary Medicine Association.
While currently with Animal and Bird Health Care Center Dr. Boutette also donates his time and expertise to other local organizations needing veterinary care for resident animals. He is on the board of directors for the Freedom Center for Wildlife, actively involved with the New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association, and a member of various other veterinary associations. He has succeeded in publishing academic papers and served as speaker at veterinary continuing education conferences.
